Our 2019 Spring concert is filled with wonderful choral music that will both calm and stir your soul. The centrepiece is Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C major.
We’ll be singing other works, including classical as well as more modern and popular choral works. Accompanying us will be a piano, a string quintet, and four vocal soloists.
The Mozart Coronation Mass is a Missa brevis (short mass) that eventually became preferred music for many royal and imperial coronations as well as services of thanksgiving. It was probably initially composed as a church mass by Mozart when he returned to Salzburg as a young 23-year-old musician needing employment. It’s a stirring piece!
Tickets are available from choir members and at the door. (Online tickets are no longer available for this set of Spring concerts.)
