We featured our new Director, Shawn Grenke, along with The Trillium Brass Quintet, organist Chris Dawes, and timpanist Roger Flock. The Trillium Brass is one of Canada’s leading brass ensembles, and added a flourish to the joyful sounds of celebration as we sang Christmas favourites, modern and old.

accompanied by the Andrew Gilpin Jazz Ensemble, Chris Dawes, The Georgetown Children’s Chorus and featuring soloist Alicia Ault, was proud to present an exciting multi-media concert starring Canada! The beautifully haunting calls of wolves, loons and whales are woven into the Paul Winter Consort’s Missa Gaia: Earth Mass and Canadian composer Paul Halley’s Freedom Trilogy and Sound Over All Waters. This performance honoured Canada on our country’s 150th birthday.

Yes, you heard many old favourites, but you were also treated to fine songs from more modern musicals. Soloists, small groups of singers, and the full Achill chorus enchanted you with the greatest melodies from the big stage, and sent you home smiling, humming and tapping your toes.

Spring 2013 — Brahms’ Requiem

Our 30th Anniversary season concluded with a special performance of Brahms’ Requiem.

The Brahms German Requiem (sung in English) is a grandiose work, with towering heights of passion, multiple fugal themes, and poignant melodies woven into a total choral masterpiece. We were joined by Soprano Stephanie Kramer and Bass Kirk Lackenbauer from Kitchener for this oratorio.

Other Notable Performances

Achill has also performed Handel’s Messiah. In company with Georgetown Choral Society, Achill has also presented Mozart’s Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
